Welcome one, welcome all. My name is Joshua, and I’m an ultra-runner (“runner”) from the Eastern Panhandle of West Virginia. I already spend too much time running, so I thought it would be a good idea to spend even more time writing about it. This blog will chronicle my various adventures (and misadventures) both with and without a bib, while also serving as a convenient soapbox from which I can shout into the endless void of cyberspace. If you like well-researched analysis, nuanced discussion, and sugar and spice and everything nice, then go elsewhere.
Just kidding (or am I?)
In all seriousness, I have been a runner for 11 years (since 2016), and a “certfied” ultrarunner for 9 of them. since 2018, I have finished 60-something (ultrasigup/ultrarunning magazine accredited) ultramarathons, including 8 100-mile races as of September, 2026. I have run everything from big-time races like JFK 50 (2018,19) to self-supported 100s like Harpers Ferry 100 (2020), and everything in between.
What’s the ultimate goal here? To keep running for health and fitness, to knock out 100s, and to have fun (most of the time) along the way.
Note: As a member of the Virginia Happy Trails Running Club (VHTRC), as well as Run Hike HURT (HURT), you will see me refer to them, especially the former, numerous times and often by their acronyms.
